Space.NK: Mini Haul

This was my first trip to space NK and I must admit I was slightly excited, I managed to drag my mum along to join me on this exciting trip even though she wasn't excited at al.... I was really only on a mission to find one item which was an eye shadow from Nars I didn't expect to come out with two extra products but I must say I'm glad I did! SO here's a little look at what I picked up from Space nk.

Pure radiant tinted moisturiser
With all this hot weather the last thing I want to do is plaster my face with foundation, for it to just melt off... but unfortunately I'm also not the person who is brave enough to do the whole bare faced thing as I'm still not happy with my skin. SO I decided to try out a tinted moisturiser. I have to say I am really happy with this, it actually gives great coverage and feels so light on my face It makes a great change from heavy foundation. When I use this I still use concealer and powder just to set it, I also get the great protection of SPF 30 while wearing this moisturiser. The only down side I will say is I think the shade I got is slightly darker than my skin tone I got it in the shade polynesie which I think is in fact the darkest shade. I know I'm bound to get darker so this shade is probably perfect for summer months but if I was to continue using this in the winter I'd get maybe just one or two shades lighter.

Pore refining primer
Now onto another product that I didn't plan to get but to be honest I haven't been using a primer for at least a month now so this purchase was needed. I have to say I have given up on primers that claim to control all because they all lie! okay maybe they just don't really work for me but I do feel weird putting on any makeup without putting on primer first. One thing that attracted me to this primer Is the fact that its oil and alcohol free, I have sensitive skin as I've mentioned before and the last thing I want or need is a breakout. I must admit it pretty much does what it says on the bottle, I can definitely see the difference with my pores when I apply this, they are less visible which creates a great base for applying makeup. This primer also has pure lentil seed extract in it which is suppose to reduce the look of pore over time I look forward to seeing if this happens.

Cream Eye Shadow in Savage

And last but not least cream eye shadow in the colour savage. This is actually why I took a trip to space nk in the first place as I had been to oxford circus and looked in two huge department stores as well as liberty on Carnaby street and none of them had this colour in stock! Anyway I finally found it, yay *does a little dance* I'm glad I found this colour it is lovely and subtle enough to wear during the day but it is also buildable. I'm not that keen on cream eye shadows as I feel they aren't pigmented enough but I'm glad I got this colour I'm not sure if its clear in the picture but its a lovely gold shade.

Unfortunately Space nk convinced me and my mum into getting a points card which surely means ill have to go back and spend more money (that I shouldn't be spending) so I can get my first £5 off! I mean I wouldn't want to miss a good deal would I?

Review: Mac oil control lotion

The damage of duty free... before my flight to New York I decided to check out Mac as I had ran out of primer and had no time to get another one. So I decided to ask the lovely MUA on which primer she would recommend and she introduced me to this beauty the mac oil control lotion, a moisturiser designed to educe the amount of touch up throughout the day. Now let me just say this is not a primer at all but a moisturiser and when she suggested it I was slightly weary as to whether this is really what I wanted. However she then explained hat she also suffers from oily skin and showed me her lovely shine free face.. I was sold!

As advised by the MUA I now do not use as primer and only use this moisturiser before applying my makeup. Some moisturisers can feel too heavy and greasy lotion is light and I apply it mainly to the t-zone of my face. Walking the long New York streets a the hot humid heat was something I experienced daily on my holiday but I have to say this was my life saver! slightly dramatic? I think not, I was quite sceptical but I have been completely impressed with this product. Obviously during my shopping trips I had very few opportunities to touch up but when I did I was surprised that my make up wasn't slipping off my face. Although I was slightly shiny overall I am really impressed with this product and haven't stopped using it since however... I'm still searching for that miracle primer.

New In: Next Sale

The only time I ever really go into next is when I'm shopping with my lovely mumma, however whenever there is a sale I always like to have a little look. As soon as I got to Next I went straight to the shoe section, I love Next shoes as you can get them in size 6 1/2 which is my size and normally I either have to wear shoes slightly too small or slightly too big but these were a perfect fit!

I picked up the wedges first and instantly fell in love once I tried them on, they were so comfortable. Even though I towered over my poor mother (she hates the fact I'm taller than her) I had to get them. Now on to the other pair of sandals, I had actually had my eye on these previously but was unsure so just left them. what was I thinking? I'm so glad I picked these up in the sale I must admit they are not my usual style but they are so comfortable I have actually worn them everyday since I brought them.

Both of these beauties will definitely be worn on my holiday, If your after style and comfort with your shoes next is the place to go, the sale is still on so have a look!

Studded Sandals - £12
Nude Wedges - £20

Crop top - Zara / Trousers - Zara / Shoes - Office / Bag - Zara

I love these trousers in this heat they are perfect as they are made from a cool silky material, they are just so light and comfortable. These sandals were also a great find in the office sale as I had my eye on some similar ones in River Island but I actually prefer these. The Bag was another lucky find from the Zara sale, its the perfect size not too small and fits all the crap I insist on taking with me.

p.s. I was in Trafalgar Square and spotted Dick and Dom filming, how exciting aye!

Book Review: The Storyteller

"Whether it's was power they sought, or revenge, or love - well those were all just different forms of hunger. The bigger the hole inside you, the more desperate you become to fill it"

If someone would have said to me I would read a book based on the holocaust I would have probably laughed in their face. History is not something I usually opt to read into, I'm more into crime books and the odd 50 shades. But this book has definitely surprised me, its based on a new found friendship with a young girl and an older man. I don't want to spoil it by giving away the storyline but the young girl is faced with a tough decision and as the story unravels their life's cross in unimaginable ways.

With such a sensitive issue this book is written beautifully and really opens your eyes and makes you think of what people are actually capable of. The Holocaust is something everybody is aware of but the sad thing is cases like this are still going on in other parts of the world. I know, I know a bit of a heavy subject but definitely a book to add to your holiday reading list! I look forward to reading another one of Jodi Picoult's books soon.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

Recently I've been obsessed with trying new beauty products the whole blogging world is a dangerous one, it just makes me want to shop! I'm happy to say this recent purchase was not a waste, I had never tried a gel eyeliner before as I thought it was going to be too hard to apply and there's nothing more frustrating than not being able to get your eyeliner right. However I wish I hadn't been struggling with liquid eyeliner for so long gel eye liner is obviously the way forward!

I feel this little pot will last me a long time, the brush that comes with it makes application so easy and the jet black colour is perfect. For a drugstore product I am impressed and definitely recommend it.
