The Top 3: Skincare Wishlist

The Top 3: Skincare Wishlist

Every now and again I like to show you guys a few skin products I'm hoping to get my hands on. But of course being a student and having a serious expensive skin care and make up habit I never actually have any money, whoops. So here's what I hope to get in the near future.

First up is the Kiehls Dark spot solution, me being an acne sufferer after fighting to get rid of the spots I then have to tackle the scars I'm left with. This product is aimed at improving discolouration and to improve the clarity of your skin. I've read some good and some not so good reveiws on this product but where acne is concerned I think it's a winner so this is definitely on the top of my list.

Next up moisturiser, this is one area I find difficult with having oily skin for years I have thought steering away from moisturiser is a way to improve my skin. However this is wrong, so so wrong, dehydrated oily skin is even worse so although you may not think it it is important to keep oily skin hydrated. The difficulty I find is finding a moisturiser that is targeted at oily acne prone skin. One skin care brand I've been interested in lately is Clinique. It's a counter I normally just walk past and have taken no interest in. However this specific product the Acne solution clearing moisturiser contains benzoyl peroxide which is used to treat acne. When I went to the dermatologist a few years back he prescribed a cream which also contains this ingredient and it really helped to clear up my skin. I'm very interested in trying this out as it is also aimed at controlling oil.

Ren invisible pores, can I just say I love this skin care brand I have been using their products for the past few months and I have not been disappointed. This face mask is aimed at combination to oily skin and it's goal is to make your pores less visible as well as getting rid of excess sebum. I have large pores on my cheek near to my nose and I hate them. I've read some good reveiws on this product so I can't wait to try it myself.

Are there any skin care products you've been lusting after recently?

Iglot Freedom System

Colours 21 - 37 - 409

Recently I took a trip to shepards bush westfields, as I came down the escalator and saw Iglot I just knew it had to finally purchase my first palette. If you haven't been to Iglot before here's how it works, you can choose any size palette and pick which colour eyeshadows you wish to put in your palette from a wide range of shades.

For someone like me this is heaven, even though when it comes to making decisions and choosing I am the worst person this was quite easy. I picked three similar (but also very different) shades that I knew I would be able to wear either by themselves or adding other colours with it. These shades are so subtle so are perfect for the day time but could also be built up for a night time look.

When it comes to eyeshadow colours the ones I purchased are the typical kind of colours I like to wear as I feel they suit my skin tone well. The textures of these eyeshadows are soft and they apply nicely to the lid. For £4.50 each I think it's a bargain. The pallet itself cost £5 and you can get pallets that fit up to 10 eyeshadows.

Another trip to Iglot is definitely on the cards.

Beauty Haul

Well I've been at it again! There have been a few items on my 'to buy' list for a while now so I thought I'd do a little beauty haul while I had some money. (That money has now all gone, whoops) let's start off with the benefit they're real mascara, I am in love I actually got this as a freebie from a magazine and haven't stopped using it. So I just had to buy another one, my eye lashes are curly and not very long but this mascara has managed to create the look of long luscious lashes which is amazing. I will definitely be repurchasing this one over and over again.
Next up the Bourjois nail varnish remover, I'm very lazy and a nail varnish remover that pretty much removes it for me is something I had to invest in. Removing nail varnish is the most boring part of the whole process so for me this is a must.
Can I start by saying finally, as you may or may not know I've recently started to love wearing eye shadow but I seriously needed some new eye shadow brushes (I only owned two). I've had my eye on these real technique brushes for what felt like centuries but finally parted with 20 quid for these bad boys.
Seche vite, the infamous top coat. For me this is a repurchase and a must have for my nail varnish collection. I love this top coat it's fast drying and leaves my nails glossy and long lasting.

I had a boots voucher for No7 and decided to invest in a brush cleaner. I actually had my eye on the Mac one but thought I have a voucher so why not. When it comes to cleaning my brushes it happens on very rare occasions, disgusting I know but the whole process is very long and ending up with wet brushes when u need to use them irritates me. With this product your brushes are clean and dry in 15 minutes, perfect. I have started to have breakouts and think it's partly down to unclean brushes so hopefully this will help. However you are advised to give your brushes a deep clean at least once a month so you can't avoid it completely!

So, I gave into the hype and brought the Maybelline baby lips lipbalm. I got the hydrate version as the tinted ones didn't really appeal to me. This will probably be another lip balm to add to my collection that I do not use! Soap and glory are one product that never fails to impress me, so when I ran out of my Sanctuary spa body scrub I just had to try out soap and glory. Their products are definitely ones I would purchase without hesitation and this body scrub was no exception, the only difficulty I had was choosing which one to buy!

Last but not least the urban decay make up setting spray, as you may or may not know I am always on a quest to find a product that will succeed in making my skin less oily. This is an oil control, oil free spray that is designed to stop or reduce your oiliness throughout the day. I guess we'll see how this one works out...

Are there any beauty products you've purchased lately?

Topshop Haulin'

If there is one thing I do not like it is the transition between seasons, it's a time where I look into my wardrobe and realise I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR. So as another transition has arrived it was time for me to start my autumn/winter shopping. And one place that never seems to let me down (although my bank account may not agree) is Topshop.
Topshop really do have some great jumpers at the moment so I really do recommend having a little look. But first off we have this striped tshirt which I thought is just so casual and perfect for uni to throw on with some jeans, a mac and white converses. So I just had to buy it. When I shop I tend to try and visualise a whole outfit together to avoid buying something and having nothing to wear it with. This tshirt is a loose fit I got it in a size 10 and the material is so nice and soft I love it. I think it was around £16.
Next up, my two new cosy jumpers. This orange jumper caught my eye and I tried so hard to ignore it but I just couldn't and at £46 it really was a naughty purchase but it sure felt good! Its a nice fit however the only downside I would say is it's slightly itchy but after a few washes I'm sure that will sort itself out.
Pink, PINK!? This is just not like me. In the past I would have cringed at the thought of wearing pink, however this season it seems to be everywhere and to be honest I'm starting to really like it. I've already had to stop myself from buying another pink fluffy jumper because I guess it just wasn't necessary but I love the one I have and at £36 (I think) you just can't go wrong.
Finally, I also brought some dark blue Mom jeans which you might be able to see in the first picture, I tried to get another picture but me being a perfectionist I just wasn't happy with any of them so gave up. Anyway I already have a light blue pair that I wore constantly during the summer so I thought a darker colour would be a nice addition for autumn. They are so comfy and a nice fit so if you haven't already got a pair I say go for it.
I have a feeling Topshop are going to be seeing a lot of me this winter!

Mind over matter

The mind is a powerful thing.
What we think determines what we can do.
If we put our minds to it we can overcome many obstacles...
Well guys I've finally built up the courage and gone and got my first tattoo. In a previous post (life, make it happen) I discussed how I've decided to stop being a bore and start living life so this was my next step getting a tattoo. I've wanted to get a tattoo for a while but have been to nervous to even go near the tattoo shop, but of course you only get one life and things I have experienced in my life recently has made me realise you really just need to get on with it! Life is too short.
Anyway blab over, where did my Idea for this tattoo come from? Well, A few months ago I was in a lecture at uni and my heart began to race, my hands started shaking and I felt as though I couldn't breathe. I realised I was having a panic attack and since that day everything has changed. Fears that I had never had before began to grow and everyday felt like and still feels like a challenge. Although I have improved slightly I'm still not where I used to be and simple things such as going shopping or being in a crowded place can be difficult.
So, this is why I decided to get this tattoo, I now know that I will probably struggle with anxiety for the rest of my life but will hopefully in time learn how to keep it under control. If we put our minds to it we can overcome many obstacles. We all have obstacles we wish to overcome and this is one I'm fighting head on...
